For the past two decades, Professor Catharine Lumby has worked with organisations as diverse as Google Australia, the National Rugby League, Channel 10, the Australian Communication and Media Authority and the Australian Sports Commission.
Professor Lumby, who featured in the acclaimed 2019 SBS documentary ‘Is Australia Sexist?’, is a regular commentator on gender diversity and related ethical issues in Australia’s mainstream media.
Catharine is an ambassador for Rape and Domestic Violence Services Australia and an advisor to the Council of The National Museum of Australia.
She has also worked extensively with schools and universities on research and education preventing sexual harassment and promoting the responsible use of social media.
Prior to joining Sydney University, she was a Professor of Media at Macquarie University – widely known for her evidence based approach – and holds an Arts(Hons)/Law degree from Sydney University and a PhD from Macquarie University.
