Nina Funnell often writes on issues connected with gender and sexuality, technology, and violence prevention, and has conducted academic research in this space.
She has served on the NSW Premier’s Council on Preventing Violence Against Women, the board of Rape and Domestic Violence Services Australia, the Our Watch media advisory group, and the board of the National Children’s and Youth Law Centre.
In 2010, Nina was awarded the Australian Human Rights Commission Community (individual) award and has been a finalist for Young Australian of the Year. She has also been awarded the Edna Ryan media award.
She has been published in The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Guardian, ABC Online, Daily Life, The Daily Telegraph, News.com.au and featured on The Drum, and in other media forums.
Nina has a degree with first class honors in Media and Communications from the University of Sydney and is a proud ambassador for The Full Stop Foundation and the Sanctuary Hills Women’s Shelter.
